The NextGen – Mirth Health Information Exchange technical stack is the core component of the LANES Technical Architecture. The NextGen – Mirth software applications and LANES data are hosted on secured servers managed by NextGen – Mirth. Products within the NextGen – Mirth stack include Connect, Mail, Match, and Results. Additional capabilities are provided by third party vendors interfacing with the NextGen – Mirth core to provide services such as a master patient index, provider directory, terminology services, secure email exchange, interface to external HIEs, and hosting services for the LANES business intelligence services. Technologies used by LANES to facilitate information exchange with participants include web services, virtual private networks, and secure file transfer protocol. Accredited national and international information exchange standards such as those defined by IHE, HL7, ASC X12, and NCPDP are used for all data exchanges with LANES participants.
