Technology Overview

LANES HIE facilitates the secure exchange of health care and administrative data between hospital, clinics, and health plan. Data are exchanged using industry standard health information transaction formats and exchange protocols. The LANES Clinical Data Repository is the core component of the LANES technical architecture. Data flows into and from the CDR by way of an interface engine with EMR and Care Management System end points. The CDR is also available for access in read only mode via the LANES CDR web-portal.

Hospitals and clinics submit clinical data to LANES using HL7 document and messaging standards. Data is updated using the same transaction formats.

Health Plans submit member enrollment and prescription fulfillment history using X12 and NCPDP standards respectively.

Clinical data retrieval is accomplished using standard IHE document exchange protocols, such as XDS.b, to request and supply clinical documents.

Event-driven encounter notifications and alerts are provided using DirectTrust® secured email.
