LANES Network Grows by 19%, Marking a Year of Expansion and Momentum

Extension into Orange County, a growing and diverse participant population, and investments in technology and privacy underscore LANES’ success

LOS ANGELES, January 29, 2026 — LANES, a Qualified Health Information Organization (QHIO), today announces a momentous year of growth, with a 19% increase in participants. In addition to being the QHIO of choice for leading California health systems, hospitals, clinicians, behavioral health experts, and other providers across the healthcare spectrum, LANES also achieved several milestones that expanded its footprint and deepened its impact on coordinated, whole person care in Los Angeles and beyond.

“Our growth and the milestones our community achieved this year represent more than organizational achievements,” said Ali Modaressi, CEO of LANES. “They reflect the trust our partners place in us, the rigor of our operations, and the shared commitment across our network to improving care coordination and patient experience. As we look ahead, we remain focused on deepening partnerships, expanding access to accurate and complete data, and supporting coordinated, high-quality care for Californians.”

LANES served as a timely and critical catalyst for healthcare leaders. Among its achievements, the QHIO helped reduce patient recidivism and acute care returns among Medi-Cal beneficiaries with complex conditions through partnerships with Alta-Prospect Health System and Partners In Care Foundation. In collaboration with Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC), a major FQHC with 17 locations, LANES helped enhance clinical management of diabetes and adult asthma—two high-impact diseases affecting underserved populations. To help ensure more people can access The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program’s essential services, LANES teamed up with the California WIC Association (CWA) and improved WIC enrollment and retention through streamlined referral and care coordination. As its QHIO, LANES additionally helped L.A. Care Health Plan become the first managed care plan in California to implement FHIR®-based data exchange under the state’s Data Exchange Framework.

In the last year, LANES also:

  • Was selected by Orange County (OC) for health information exchange services for the OC Health Care Agency (HCA). The partnership enables secure data exchange across the HCA’s clinical, behavioral, and public health systems in support of whole person care and in alignment with the federal Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA™), California Data Exchange Framework (DxF), and Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Program (BHQIP).
  • Continued its critical trust and security leadership by earning HITRUST r2 Certification for the 2024–2026 cycle. This certification reinforces LANES’ commitment to the highest standards of privacy, security, and responsible data stewardship, particularly for patients and communities with the most sensitive needs.
  • Received confirmation that its clinical data is now validated through the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Data Aggregator Validation program and has earned the NCQA-Validated Data Stream Designation. This program evaluates clinical data streams to help ensure that health plans, providers, government organizations and others can trust the accuracy of LANES’ aggregated clinical data for use in Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) reporting and other quality programs.
  • Announced its new partnership with Selfii, a leader in privacy-preserving health data solutions for individuals and healthcare organizations, providing patients of LANES participants with an intuitive platform for accessing their complete healthcare records. As healthcare becomes more data-driven, the ability for patients to access, manage, and share their comprehensive medical records is essential for better care coordination and improved health outcomes while strengthening the provider-patient relationship.
  • Was recognized by Heluna Health with the Board of Directors Certificate of Outstanding Team Achievement and the Semi-Annual Award for Growth.

This momentum was matched by internal growth, with LANES growing its team of experts by 16%. The LANES board also diversified and expanded with the appointments of Melanie Fontes Rainer, J.D., M.S.Ed., Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of L.A. Care Health Plan, and Alex Carey, Chief Operations Officer of MedPOINT Management. This expansion reflects LANES’ continued investment in talent and capacity to meet growing demand, support participants, and advance California’s vision for connected care in 2026.
