LANES CEO, Ali Modaressi, appointed to CHHS Data Exchange Framework Stakeholder

LOS ANGELES –California Health and Human Services (CHHS) Secretary, Mark Ghaly, appointed Ali Modaressi, Chief Executive Officer of Los Angeles Network for Enhanced Services (LANES), to the Data Exchange Framework Stakeholder Advisory Group.

The Assembly Trailer Bill 133 (AB133) was signed by Governor Newsom on July 27th, which aims to implement and expand a number of ambitious programs including calling for California healthcare providers, health insurers, federal and state government agencies and other healthcare entities to share and exchange critical clinical data with each other over the next few years.

Stakeholder Advisory Group will partner with CHHS and the state’s new Center for Data Insights and Innovation to develop the state’s first-ever California Health and Human Services Data Exchange Framework — a single data sharing agreement and common set of policies and procedures that will govern the exchange of health information among health care entities and government agencies beginning in June 2024.

Modaressi and other committee members have a unique opportunity to develop consistent approaches to sharing data that will enhance public health, improve care delivery, and guide policies aimed at caring for the whole person, while maintaining patient privacy, data security, and promoting health equity.

“This is a unique opportunity for California, and I am excited to serve on the Stakeholder Advisory Group to advance statewide interoperability in California. LANES has made significant progress in Los Angeles County in serving the safety net population and providers,” said Modaressi. “As a group member, I intend to add a regional HIE perspective and contribute to developing policies based on our experience working with some of the largest health systems and health plans in California.”

The Advisory Group meets on a monthly basis and the next Stakeholder Advisory Group meeting will be held on Thursday, October 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
