Letter from the CEO

Ali Modaressi

2025 has already been an unprecedented year for our greater Los Angeles area community. Tens of thousands of people have been forced from their home, and thousands of structures have been destroyed. Our hearts are with those who have lost so much. And over the past several weeks, I’ve also been reminded of the unique resilience, strength, and compassion that defines our community and makes me proud to call LA home.

The wildfires have also served to demonstrate just how essential data sharing is to our health and well-being. Access to complete and accurate patient records has been a lifeline. We were proud to be called by the Department of Public Health to help public health nurses deployed to Pasadena to support evacuees, delivering qualified care providers access to the LANES portal to look up vital records, medication, and other necessary information. That wouldn’t have been possible without the hundreds of LANES participants that have committed to sharing health care and social services data.

2024 was a year of remarkable growth and achievements, further solidifying our position in the California HIO market. We expanded our network by 80%, and usage of LANES’ popular portal doubled throughout the year, with 140,000 patients accessed in December alone. This was our strongest year yet, demonstrating our ability to scale rapidly and effectively leverage the opportunities provided by the QHIO grant program to connect providers and DSA signatories.

As we start our 7th year, LANES remains stable, strong, and focused on our future. We are enhancing our security measures, investing in advanced analytics and business intelligence to support participants in their decision making, and advancing key CalAIM initiatives.

Despite the complexities and uncertainties of the evolving healthcare landscape, our priorities and passion remain unchanged. We are dedicated to streamlining care delivery and addressing local and regional healthcare challenges by leveraging our enriched data assets and advanced technology solutions to optimize patient insights and population health.

We’re grateful to be a part of this incredible network. Thank you for the privilege of collaborating with you and supporting the health and well-being of LA’s patients and residents.

With gratitude,

Ali
