Letter from the CEO

Ali Modaressi

As we close out our seventh year supporting participants this holiday season, we’re grateful for continued connection, innovation, and transformation in the communities in which we live and work. And we’re celebrating just a few of the ways our participants led the state, demonstrating the real power of data sharing and its impact across healthcare and social services.

  • The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, which delivers critical nutritional support to pregnant women, new mothers, and young children, worked with LANES to improve access to WIC’s essential services. LANES collaborated with the California WIC Association (CWA) on a pilot program to streamline referrals and care coordination, with access to health data required for WIC enrollment and ongoing participation. By automating the referral process, more new eligible individuals were successfully enrolled in WIC, achieving its goal. The pilot also now serves as a model for other WIC programs.
  • L.A. Care Health Plan became the first managed care plan in California to implement FHIR®-based data exchange under the state’s Data Exchange Framework (DxF). The partnership with LANES enables secure, real-time sharing of clinical, claims, and social services data, enhancing care coordination, closing gaps in medical history, and improving outcomes for underserved communities.

We remain thankful for our participants’ trust and collaboration in creating these innovative programs, and so many others, which are transforming healthcare and social services. As we look ahead to 2026, we look forward to building upon the successes and growth earned in 2025.

On behalf of the entire LANES team, thank you for your trust, partnership, and commitment to advancing data sharing.

Wishing you a safe and healthy holiday season and a Happy New Year,

Ali
